Diet & Nutritional Counseling

I am starting this blog in response to requests for diet and nutritional counseling from several populations of women including pregnancy, weight loss after delivery and insulin resistant conditions such as Gestational Diabetes, Type II diabetes and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Obesity has become an epidemic in the United States and is the cause of many forms of pregnancy-related and newborn-related complications as well as other chronic diseases. As a result, obesity has an enormous impact on the health of women and their children. Many women gain too much weight in their pregnancy and then fail to lose that weight after giving birth. Studies indicate that many women were given incorrect advice regarding weight gain in pregnancy. In order to lose weight and maintain that loss and prevent excessive weight gain in pregnancy, requires changing your lifestyle and incorporating healthy eating habits, activity, and exercise into your lifestyle.

The purpose of this blog is to provide you with the needed tools and resources to help you change your lifestyle. As women and mothers, we are faced with many challenges throughout the week with time management. I have 4 children, work full-time, volunteer outside of work, and am very active in the lives of my children. I still prepare meals for my family even with a busy and active schedule. I will share tips to help with meal preparation and meal choices that are quick and healthy. I will share recipes and help you change recipes to make them healthier. On those occasions when eating out is a must, I will help you make healthier choices at restaurants.

Making a lifestyle change takes time and does not occur over night. Together we can dispel the many myths out there and improve the health and lifestyles of ourselves and our children.

That's indeed a good fact on maintaining a healthy living. Proper relation and communication is another way of healthy living.

I was diagnose with PCOS last September and I've been dieting and exercising. I lost 12 lbs and gain 7 lbs back it makes me depressed sometime my husband and I want to starting trying for our first child suggestions on dieting and exercising.

I think this blog is a fantastic idea. In a world were there are countless "fad" diets we need to go back to the essentials- THE WAY WE EAT AND WhAT WE EAT. I have tried every fad diet known to man and have found in my 30s I am finding that I can't eat as much as I did in my teens or even my 20s. I want to have children soon and have made the decision to change my habits NOW before I get preggers so I am not on a crash course of change once I am expecting.
So glad to see this blog on here! Will check often
